College Station ISD
Roslyn UFSD - Board Presentation
Uniondale Union Free School District , Uniondale, NY is working towards reducing their contracted Regular ED school bus numbers from 92 to 40.

In 2007, Uniondale Union Free School District requested an evaluation of the established routing. The results indicated;

  1. They were busing over 1000 ineligible riders, using 92 buses to transport 3200 of 6500 students. They discovered buses that had as few as 10 riders on 65 passenger buses.
  2. Their bell times did not allow ample time to were preventing the ability to tier their schools to allow better efficiency by having buses serve more than one campus.
  3. They had buses operating in the same area which confused riders and resulted in lower ridership,
  4. They could lower their operating costs, improve efficiency and get a Bigger Bang for their Buck.

Uniondale Union Free School District accepted our 3 year plan to realign bell times, establish routing guidelines and poised the Transportation Services as the lead to regain control of their student transportation budget. They eliminated 20 of their Regular ED buses in 2007 and are moving toward the goal of 40 Regular Ed buses in a 3 year phase in program. A savings of $700,000.00.

In 2008, Uniondale Union Free School District began a second review of their Private and Parochial and Special ED routes. The review proposed to eliminate 9 0f 18 Private and Parochial buses and routes reworked to serve more than one school in a trip. They are moving to the use of vans that can serve multiple schools to reduce their single student contract costs.

Godley ISD, Godley, TX experience a recent turnover of their Transportation Director and routing Staff.

Godley ISD had been using Transfinder for 3 years but had not successfully fully implemented or used the powerful tools available.

The new Director wanted to "Do it Right" and restart their Transfinder usage to the full potential. On-line training was scheduled and after 2 four hour training session, the Director and new routers gained the skills and confidence to successfully load students, paper routes into Transfinder and effectively create a fully operation routing database for the first time in 3 years.

Godley ISD also learned the Field Trip feature in Transfinder and was planning on implementing their paperless, electronic Field Trip program during the 2007-2008 school year. Godley ISD moving to Transfinder electronic Field Trips will reduce Transportations workload and provide historical records thus eliminating the "Do you have my field trip" or "We sent our request to Transportation weeks ago and you do not have it".

Eanes ISD, Austin, TX experienced the loss of their 2 Transfinder qualified Routers 3 weeks before school started in 2008. I was able to work with the Director and 2 of his personnel over a weekend to assist them in their start up for the 2008-2009 school year.
